LAST WEEK'S ROUNDUP: Last week's trade started out on Tuesday,
with light business evident in most feeding areas, more light
trade filtered in every day throughout the rest of the week. On
Friday afternoon, Mandatory reported total weekly trade volume
as follows KS 23,697; NE 35,698; TX 5,006; CO 3,980; IA 30,215.
Southern live trade ranged from 126.00 to 127.00, mostly
127.00. Colorado trade was at 127.00-128.50. Northern dressed
business had a full range of 203.00 to 208.00 (the 208.00 was
in Iowa only) the bulk of trade was at 204.00-205.00.
DTN MORNING COMMENTS: The country is typically quiet this
morning with packers focusing on the collection of new
showlists. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed
until the second half of the week. Beef cutouts are expected to
be higher with light box movement.
For the week ending March 10, 2018, Imported Beef Passed for
Entry in the U.S. totaled 40,370, 99.19% of the previous week
and 104.89% of the prior 4-week average.
